Part I — Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Taranto-Viva.com is an open-source digital platform dedicated to promoting the historical, cultural, archaeological, natural and landscape heritage of Taranto and its surroundings.
This document informs visitors about how personal data is processed when using the website, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), Article 122 of Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 (Italian Privacy Code) and the Guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools issued by the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) on 10 June 2021.

3. Scope — who this policy applies to
This policy applies exclusively to visitors of Taranto-Viva.com.
The website does not offer the public the possibility to register, log in or use interactive forms. No personal data is voluntarily collected from visitors. Administrative and editorial access to the website is restricted to authorised staff only and is governed by separate internal policies.
4. Data collected automatically while browsing
When you visit the website, the web server automatically records the technical information needed for the service to work properly. This may include:
- IP address;
- browser type and version;
- operating system;
- date and time of the request;
- pages and resources requested;
- HTTP referrer.
This data is processed solely to ensure the security and stability of the platform. It is not combined with other information to identify individual users.
Legal basis: the data controller's legitimate interest in ensuring the operation and security of the platform (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
5. Visit statistics — Matomo
To understand, in aggregate form, how the website is used (number of visits, most viewed pages, where visits come from, type of device), Taranto-Viva.com uses Matomo, an open-source web analytics software, in its Matomo Cloud version provided by InnoCraft Ltd, which acts as a data processor under Article 28 GDPR.
Matomo is configured to keep the processing of personal data to a minimum:
- no cookies: Matomo does not store or read cookies or any other information on your device;
- anonymised IP address: the last two bytes of the IP address are masked before storage (e.g. 192.168.xxx.xxx), so the IP cannot be traced back to you;
- no recognition across visits: requests belonging to the same visit are grouped for at most one day, using a temporary code that changes every day; you cannot be recognised on later visits;
- "Do Not Track" respected: if your browser sends the "Do Not Track" signal, your visit is not recorded;
- no combining or use for other purposes: the data is used only to produce aggregate statistics about Taranto-Viva.com; it is not combined with other information, not used by the provider for its own purposes, and not used for profiling or advertising.
Place of processing: the data is stored on servers located in the European Union. InnoCraft Ltd is based in New Zealand, a country for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision (Article 45 GDPR).
Legal basis: the controller's legitimate interest in understanding, in aggregate form, how the website is used in order to improve its content and services (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Because the tool meets the conditions set by the Italian Data Protection Authority (exclusively statistical purpose, masked IP, no combining of data by the provider), it is treated in the same way as technical cookies and does not require your prior consent.
How to object: you can exclude your visits from the statistics at any time using the form below, or by enabling the "Do Not Track" option in your browser.

6. Embedded external content (videos)
Some pages of the website may contain videos hosted on external platforms:
- YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC;
- Vimeo, a service of Vimeo.com, Inc. (USA).
This content is not loaded automatically. In its place you will see a box asking whether you want to load the video: only if you accept does your browser connect to the external platform, which may receive your IP address and set its own cookies according to its own privacy policy. You can choose to allow loading just this once or always.
Some of these providers are based in the United States. Data is transferred on the basis of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for providers that participate in it, or of Standard Contractual Clauses (Article 46 GDPR).
Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given for each individual piece of content. You can withdraw it at any time (see "Managing your preferences" in Part II), without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before its withdrawal.

8. Security
Taranto-Viva.com adopts appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or improper disclosure.
9. Your rights
Under Articles 15-22 GDPR, you may exercise the following rights at any time:
- Access — obtain confirmation as to whether your data is being processed and receive a copy of it;
- Rectification — request the correction of inaccurate data;
- Erasure — request the deletion of your data where the conditions apply;
- Restriction — request the restriction of processing in certain circumstances;
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest, including visit statistics (see the opt-out form in section 5);
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format, where applicable;
- Withdrawal of consent — withdraw at any time your consent to the loading of external content.
Because the statistical data is anonymised, in most cases it cannot be linked back to you in order to respond to an access or erasure request.

Part II — Cookie Policy
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that are saved on your device when you visit a website. Some are essential for the website to work properly; others may be set by external services.
Taranto-Viva.com uses technical cookies only. For this reason, no banner is shown when you arrive on the site: you are asked for consent only when you choose to load external content, such as a video.

Visit statistics — Matomo (no cookies)
Visit statistics are collected with Matomo without using cookies and with an anonymised IP address (see section 5 of Part I). Matomo does not store any file on your device.
Only if you choose to opt out of the statistics using the opt-out form does Matomo store a technical cookie (mtm_consent_removed), used solely to remember this choice.
Third-party cookies — only with your consent for each item of content
If you choose to load an embedded video, the platform hosting it (YouTube or Vimeo) may set its own cookies on your device. These cookies are managed directly by the provider, according to its own privacy policy (see section 6 of Part I). Until you give your consent, the video is not loaded and no cookies from the provider are set.
No profiling or advertising cookies
Taranto-Viva.com does not use profiling, marketing, retargeting or advertising cookies of any kind.
The website no longer uses Google Analytics. Any _ga cookies left in your browser from previous visits are no longer read or updated, and you can delete them from your browser settings.
Managing your preferences
You can manage your choices at any time:
- external content (videos): change or withdraw your consent using the "Manage cookie preferences" link in the footer;
- visit statistics: exclude your visits using the opt-out form (section 5 of Part I) or by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser;
- browser: you can also block or delete cookies directly from your browser settings.
Disabling technical cookies may affect the proper functioning of some features of the website.
