Calitri is a picturesque village in Irpinia, located on the border between Campania, Basilicata, and Puglia, in the province of Avellino. It is perched on a hill at over 600 meters above sea level and is characterized by its historic center made up of narrow alleys, arches, staircases, and colorful houses, often stacked on top of each other in a spectacular urban weave.

The village has ancient origins, with evidence dating back to Roman times, but its current appearance developed in the Middle Ages. The district of "Civita," the oldest part, is a labyrinth of streets and dwellings carved into the rock, now partially restored thanks to cultural and tourist regeneration projects.

Calitri is also known for its artisan tradition, particularly for ceramic craftsmanship, and for its popular festivals. Among the most significant events is the Sponz Fest, conceived by the musician Vinicio Capossela, which enlivens the village every summer with music, theater, and culture.

The panoramic view from Calitri spans valleys, mountains, and forests, offering picturesque views in every season. It is a place that combines the tranquility of the countryside with the charm of history and is perfectly suited for slow and authentic tourism.
