The Sailor Monument is one of the most recognizable symbols of the city, closely tied to its maritime identity and the historical presence of the Italian Navy. Located in a panoramic position between Mar Grande and Mar Piccolo, the monument depicts a sailor saluting the sea, in a gesture full of significance and memory.

Created in the 20th century, it is dedicated to all sailors who have fallen or served in defense of the country. Its scenic location makes it a visual and symbolic landmark, as well as a place for contemplation and tribute.

Today, it represents not only a tribute to the naval tradition but also an identity landmark within the urban space, from which to admire the coastal landscape and understand the deep connection between Taranto and the sea.
