Therefore, it serves both as a place for everyday social interaction and as a reference point for shopping, strolls, and city events.

The Bridge of Porta Napoli, also known as the Stone Bridge, is one of the historical gateways to the Old City of Taranto. It connects the island of the ancient center with the mainland in the area of Porta Napoli, still serving today as a fundamental vehicular and pedestrian link: it allows passage between the old village, the port, and the northern neighborhoods of the city. The structure, made of masonry and stone, evokes the tradition of arched bridges and represents a "historical" alternative to the more famous Swing Bridge.

The San Francesco di Paola Swivel Bridge is one of the most recognizable symbols of Taranto. It connects the Isola del Borgo Antico to the Borgo Nuovo, spanning the navigable canal that connects the Mar Grande to the Mar Piccolo. It is a mobile metal bridge with two arms, capable of rotating laterally to allow the passage of naval units, especially those heading to or coming from the Military Arsenal and the Navy bases.

Jonian Dolphin Conservation is a scientific research association based in Taranto, active in the protection of cetaceans in the Gulf of Taranto. Founded in 2009, it combines sea monitoring, environmental education, and citizen science: onboard equipped boats, biologists and researchers collect data on dolphins and other marine animals, involving citizens and visitors in responsible observation experiences.

Ketós - Euro Mediterranean Center of the Sea and Cetaceans is a scientific, cultural, and educational hub located in Taranto, dedicated to the knowledge and protection of the sea, with a special focus on the cetaceans of the Gulf of Taranto. Stemming from the experience of the Jonian Dolphin Conservation, it combines research, environmental education, and marine heritage enhancement in a space designed for citizens, schools, and visitors. The name refers to the Greek word "kêtos," related to large sea animals and the mythological world of the Mediterranean.
