Ostuni

The White City

Body

Ostuni, known as the “White City”, is one of the most charming gems of Puglia, located on three hills a few kilometers from the Adriatic Sea, in the province of Brindisi. Its historic center, with its intricate labyrinth of cobblestone streets, staircases, and white lime arches, offers picturesque views and breathtaking panoramas that open onto centuries-old olive groves and the turquoise waters of the coast.

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, with its 15th-century Gothic facade and large carved rose window, is one of the city's symbols, while the ancient gates and ramparts remind of Ostuni's medieval history. Strolling through the village means immersing oneself in an atmosphere suspended between the East and the Mediterranean, where every corner smells of lime, stone, and history.

From a cultural perspective, Ostuni preserves a rich artistic and archaeological heritage: in the surroundings, there is the Archaeological Park of Santa Maria di Agnano, with the remains of the “Woman of Ostuni”, and numerous fortified farmhouses, examples of Puglian rural architecture often converted into agriturismos or resorts today.

From a tourist point of view, Ostuni is lively all year round but comes alive especially in summer, with festivals, musical events, and food and wine events dedicated to olive oil and local products. The beaches of Pilone and Rosa Marina, reachable in a few minutes, offer crystalline sea and natural dunes.

Ostuni thus represents a perfect balance between art, nature, and tradition: a city that enchants with its simple and luminous beauty, capable of narrating authentic Puglia in all its nuances.
